Help Us Help You
Dormont Public Library offers a variety of free services to the residents of Dormont and surrounding communities. And it's the people of those communities that really keep us afloat, especially in these times of tight state budgets.
It's now easier than ever to make a donation to Dormont Public Library with the new online donation form here and in the Catalog. Even small contributions are a great help to us, and will allow us to continue providing access to thousands of books, CDs, and DVDs locally (and millions countywide), our staffed computer lab and classes, printing and fax services, children's storytimes, and all of our other programs and services available to all patrons.
Join the Tote Bag Club
From January 15 through February 15, Dormont Public Library will reward our loyal patrons with a free tote bag. Any individual who signs up and checks out 15 or more items, or any family that checks out 30 or more items as a group, can earn a free tote bag.
There's no charge to join; just check out items. For more details and to sign up, ask at the front desk. (Supplies are limited, and available styles may vary with demand.)
Tax Time - Free Tax Talk, February 22 at 7 PM
Meet with H&R Block tax professional John Kolanko at our free tax talk on Monday, February 22 at 7 PM, in the Keith Room. Mr. Kolanko will discuss the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, or ARRA. Topics covered will include the Making Work Pay Credit, changes to the Earned Income Credit, Unemployment, Additional Child Tax Credit, and other topics. The ARRA includes information relevant to college students and their parents, who are encouraged to attend. The program will last approximately an hour and a half.
Registration for this program is required. For more information, or to register, please come to the front desk or call the library at 412-531-8754.
Federal and state tax forms are available at Dormont Public Library now. To view or print forms we don't have, you can access tax forms directly from the IRS or from the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue. (Links open in new windows.) Computer lab staff can also access and print tax forms and instructions for you.
Don't forget to check out our tax information and resources page.
